"Ten Foundations, a NI charity founded in 2012 by Belfast man Ian Campbell is helping to empower women living in poverty in the Philippines. Through its livelihood programme these women are given the skills and tools to transform their own lives, from being caught in the terrible cycle of poverty they can now look forward to a better life. A simple thing like a school bagcan change lives forever.
Ten Foundations buys sewing machines and teaches the local women how to sew, women from very poor backgrounds with no skill and no education, women who have never had a chance in their lives, until now. They still live in basic conditions but can now fedd their kids everyday, they can go to the doctor if they are sick, they can improve their home, and most importantly they can send their kids to school everyday, escaping the life of poverty they have been born into.
The women now make high quality school bags and backpacks that are available in Ten Foundations charity shop at 355 Lisburn Road, Belfast and Central promenade Newcastle, or online at www.tenfoundations.org, all the money from the sale of the bags goes to the women in the livelihood programme in the Philippines, nobody will ever profit from Ten Foundations school bags, apart from the women making them.
So if you are thinking of buying a new school bag, why not buy one that can have such a positive impact on a child living 7000 miles away, a simple thing like a school bag, changing lives forever."
